What is NECO BECE
The National Examinations Council (NECO) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is taken by students in their final year of Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) as a requirement to move on to Senior Secondary School. While individual states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) organize the BECE for their students, NECO handles the exam for Federal Unity Colleges and related institutions. Private secondary schools can also participate in the exam, but only if they have approval from their State Ministries of Education. The BECE certificate has replaced the primary school certificate as the official first school leaving certificate.
